Born November 11,1821 in Moscow, Russia, Fyodor Dostoyevsky was the son of a retired military surgeon. He wrote several influential classic novels, including Crime and Punishment, The Possessed, The Idiot and The Brothers Karamazov. Many of his works explored religion and existentialism.
Dostoyevsky died February 9, 1881 at the age of 59. He remains world renowned for his contributions to classic literature.
