Born in Dublin, Ireland on February 2, 1882, James Joyce was an Irish novelist and short story writer. He was a highly influential author known for his use of modern literary methods. He attended University College Dublin.
 

His great works include Dubliners (1914), A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (1916), Ulysses (1922), and Finnegans Wake (1939).
