Born on January 25, 1882 in Kensington, London, (United Kingdom), Virginia Woolf was a novelist and essayist recognized for her keen intellect and modernist style.
 

Her classic literary works are widely read today and include The Voyage Out (1915), Night and Day (1919), Jacob’s Room (1922), Mrs. Dalloway (1925), To the Lighthouse (1927) and A Room of One’s Own (1929).
 
Woolf suffered severe bouts of depression and committed suicide in March 1941, leaving behind a letter to her husband, Leonard. She was 59.
